International Food Policy Research Institute

IFPRI seeks sustainable solutions for ending hunger and poverty. IFPRI was established in 1975 to identify and analyze alternative national and international strategies and policies for meeting the food needs of the developing world, with particular emphasis on low-income countries and on the poorer groups in those countries. IFPRI plays a key coordinating role in the Consortium and manages the AgIncentives website.

IFPRI focuses its research on six strategic areas, one of which is Improving Markets and Trade. Research in this particular strategic area is focused primarily on changing trade patterns, uneven economic growth, and globalization focuses on market failures and how to correct them, as well as how to remove constraints to market access and enhance the benefits from market participation for small farm-holders. This theme is led by the Markets, Trade and Institutions Division (MTID), which conducts research on the local, regional, and global level to analyze economic conditions, identify domestic and international externalities, improve existing research tools, and provide innovative, evidence-based policy solutions for poverty reduction at the macro- and microeconomic levels.

The Ag-Incentives consolidated database and the ag-incentives.org website are currently managed by IFPRI-MTID.
